(Re)Committed

Justin . . . thanks for dusting off the cobwebs. It is exactly what I needed to get recommitted to living a healthy lifestyle. It is amazing how easy it is to slip out of the habit of being fit and healthy, and how quickly it happens. It is hard for me to admit that in the past year(ish) I have regained over half the weight that I lost back when I was training for triathlons and marathons. It's sad that I have let life get in the way of being healthy. I was such a big advocate of making the time to exercise and be active and really needing that time to make me happy and keep myself sane. Unfortunately I fell into my own trap and decided that I was "too busy" to workout. The second year of law school really did just kick my butt. I was so busy... that I justified not working out like I should. There were so many curve balls that were sent my way that before I knew it I was gaining weight, out of shape, and it took a lot of effort to get myself to the gym or otherwise.
However, I've decided to recommit myself! I have been to the gym the last two days, and plan on continuing. Whitney and I are doing the 1/2 marathon in Detroit in one month and although I know our time won't be great... we'll make it to the finish line! I am trying to develop that mentality again that I can't afford NOT to exercise. Losing the weight was awesome... and makes it easy to want to continue. That being said, the other way around is very prohibitive. The downward spiral with my fitness makes it a daunting task to try to reverse. I am inspired by Justin's ten miles a week goal and the ability to stick with that. Since time is always the biggest excuse, it's refreshing to know that it doesn't even take but around 2 hours a week to put in 10 miles. I'm sure I speak for all of us in saying there is definitely 2 hours a week that I WASTE on unproductive things.
I guess this is my way of admitting that I have relapsed. I would appreciate encouragement and know that together we can accomplish more.
Justin... find a 1/2 marathon or full marathon within a reasonable travel distance and I'll start training with you!

Nice! Good to hear you're getting back at it. Hopefully we can make it for the 100th Annual Cincinnati Turkey Trot in November. Should we plan on Ogden next May?

I am glad to hear you are getting back at it as well. Watching Justin be so dedicated has really helped me have a huge desire to get back to it too once this baby is out and I recover a little bit. I hope that modivation is still there when I am ready.
